Registering Your Out of State Vehicle in Pennsylvania
You will need to provide us the following:
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License or Pennsylvania State ID
- Current PA insurance card in the name of the registered owner (hard copy only - not on your cell phone)
- Title to your vehicle - must be the actual title (NOT A COPY)
- We are required by Pennsylvania law to verify the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
If your vehicle is lease or has a loan, in addition to the items listed above, you will need to call the financial institution that you have your lease or loan with and provide us with the following:
- Name of the financial institution and account#
- Their ELT# for Pennsylvania, ABA/ FIN#
- The fax number to send a request for the title and name of the person or department to be made attention to.
Out of State Leasing Vehicles
Leasing financial holder needs to provide the following:
- Title
- Completed MVL1 by financial/lien holder
- Power of attorney from financial/lien holder
- Completed tax exempt from financial/lien holder
For titling for businesses located in Pennsylvania, but owner lives out of state with an out of state driver’s license, you will need the following to change a title for the business vehicle in PA:
- Need a tax/electric bills with the business’ PA address on it.
- Need an authorization letter with business letterhead giving you the okay to sign the title with an out of state driver’s license
Obtaining a Pennsylvania Driver’s License
To obtain a Pennsylvania Driver’s License you must go to a driver exam center with your current out of state driver’s license, social security card, birth certificate, and two forms of residency in Pennsylvania. Below are the two closest driver exam centers from the Birdsboro area:
